TFP Bureau, New Delhi, August 9, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation on Friday with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which the two leaders discussed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation.
President Putin briefed Prime Minister Modi on the latest developments related to Ukraine. Thanking him for the detailed update, Modi reiterated India’s consistent stance in favour of a peaceful resolution to the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.
The leaders also assessed the current state of the “Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership” between India and Russia, expressing a shared commitment to further strengthening cooperation across sectors.
Prime Minister Modi extended an invitation to President Putin to visit India later this year for the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit, underscoring the importance of continued high-level engagement between the two nations.
