TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 14, 2025 – Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday joined thousands of youth in the Independence Run held at Marine Drive in the capital, where he described the Tricolour as a “living symbol of the struggles and sacrifices of our forefathers.” The CM paid floral tributes to the statues of Bharat Mata and Rani Durgavati before addressing the gathering.
He said the national flag reflects the aspirations of crores of Indians and embodies the spirit of courage, peace, and prosperity. “We will always uphold its honour, never forget our immortal martyrs, and together build a strong, prosperous Chhattisgarh,” he said. Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to turn Independence Day into a nationwide celebration of the Tiranga, he added that the recent Tiranga Yatras and the resolve to hoist the flag in every household have deepened the spirit of unity and pride among citizens.
The CM noted that Independence Day is a reminder of the priceless sacrifices made by countless patriots. Growing nostalgic, he recalled his childhood memories of “Prabhat Pheris” (morning processions) with patriotic songs echoing through every village, saying that the same pride continues to inspire him today. He urged people to contribute collectively towards the state’s Vision Document 2047 to achieve the goal of a developed Chhattisgarh.
Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Tankram Verma, speaking at the event, said the Independence Run was not just a race but a tribute to those who laid down their lives for the nation’s freedom. He called on citizens to walk in step with the CM’s vision of a prosperous Chhattisgarh in line with PM Modi’s dream of a developed India.
The programme was also attended by MLAs Purandar Mishra, Motilal Sahu, Guru Khushwant Saheb and Anuj Sharma, Zila Panchayat President Naveen Agrawal, and Sports and Youth Welfare Secretary Yashwant Kumar.
