TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 9,2025: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai reaffirmed that education is the strongest foundation for social progress and development, emphasizing the state government’s continuous efforts to strengthen school and higher education in Chhattisgarh. He was addressing the Kanwar community’s social convention and the death anniversary ceremony of freedom fighter Sitaram Kanwar in Katghora, Korba district.
The Chief Minister said his government aims to empower youth from Scheduled Tribe communities to achieve leadership roles as collectors, superintendents of police, doctors, and engineers. He also paid tribute to the valour of martyr Sitaram Kanwar, describing him as the pride of the Kanwar community and an inspiration for generations. On this occasion, he unveiled the statue of the 1857 freedom fighter at Rampur Chowk and honoured meritorious students who excelled in board examinations.
Announcing several welfare and infrastructure initiatives, Chief Minister Sai declared ₹1 crore for the construction of a community building with a boundary wall for the Satgarh Kanwar community. He also announced ₹10 lakh for a new statue of Sitaram Kanwar at Rampur Chowk, ₹25 lakh for installing a statue of Lord Sahastrabahu and constructing an entrance gate at Kasaniya Mor, and a plan for a new high-tech bus stand in Katghora.
He later performed the foundation stone laying for renaming Bhagwan Sahastrabahu Chowk, installation of the statue, and the construction of a Kalchuri welcome gate and garden at Kasaniya Mor.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sai urged families to prioritize their children’s education and to steer the youth away from drugs, highlighting education as the true path to empowerment. He encouraged the community to take full advantage of government welfare schemes and noted that Chhattisgarh now boasts excellent higher education institutions, including medical colleges, AIIMS, IIITs, universities, and law colleges. He also extended greetings for the state’s Silver Jubilee year celebrations.
Outlining his government’s development and welfare measures, Chief Minister Sai said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promises to the people of Chhattisgarh are being rapidly fulfilled. He highlighted key initiatives such as approval for 18 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, paddy procurement at ₹3,100 per quintal up to 21 quintals per acre, and financial aid of ₹1,000 per month to 70 lakh women under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. The state has also resumed the Charan Paduka scheme and raised tendu leaf collection rates to ₹5,500 per standard sack.
The Chief Minister added that under the Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Scheme, thousands of devotees from Chhattisgarh are being provided with free pilgrimages to Ayodhya. In just 20 months, over 10,000 youths have been recruited into government jobs, and 5,000 teachers along with 700 assistant professors will soon be appointed.
He further informed that Chhattisgarh’s new industrial policy is designed to generate large-scale employment opportunities for the youth, contributing to the vision of a developed and self-reliant state.
The event was attended by MLAs Premchand Patel and Tuleshwar Hira Singh Markam, District Panchayat President Dr. Pawan Singh Kanwar, Mayor Sanju Devi Rajput, Central Kanwar Community President Chhatrapal Singh Kanwar, and several public representatives and community members.
