TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 17, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked his birthday by launching two landmark initiatives aimed at strengthening women’s health and nutrition in India—the Healthy Women-Empowered Family Campaign (Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan) and the 8th National Nutrition Month. The national launch took place from Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, while Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi virtually joined the celebrations from the Krishi Mandapam at Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur, where thousands of women gathered to participate in the event.
During the launch, Prime Minister Modi underscored that the journey toward a developed India rests firmly on four pillars—women power, youth power, the poor, and farmers. He declared that the Healthy Women-Empowered Family Scheme would serve as a cornerstone for this vision by ensuring that mothers and women across the country have access to healthcare and nutrition. The Prime Minister announced that between September 17 and October 2, more than one lakh health camps would be organized across the country. These camps will provide free testing and medicines for tuberculosis, anemia, cancer, and other critical illnesses that disproportionately affect women. Appealing directly to women, he urged them to attend these camps and safeguard their health so that no family suffers because of delayed diagnosis.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized that a healthy mother builds a strong family, and a strong family builds a stronger society. Highlighting the achievements of existing initiatives, he noted that the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana and the Poshan Abhiyan have already delivered financial and nutritional assistance worth ₹19,000 crore to over 4.5 crore women across the nation. He also referred to the Sickle Cell Anemia Mission, which has conducted over five crore screenings and issued one crore health cards, benefiting tribal communities and ensuring better health for future generations.
Broadening his address beyond healthcare, the Prime Minister connected women’s health to economic empowerment. He spoke about the PM Mitra Parks and the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, highlighting how these projects will generate millions of jobs and provide recognition to small artisans, weavers, and craftsmen. Ahead of the festive season, he urged citizens to embrace Swadeshi products, emphasizing that buying local helps strengthen the economy and accelerates India’s development journey. “Whatever you buy should be Swadeshi,” he said, underlining his call for economic self-reliance.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, speaking from Raipur, hailed the Prime Minister’s vision and leadership, stating that these initiatives are not only transforming the lives of women but also strengthening the foundation of a Viksit Bharat(Developed India). He said the upcoming health camps would be historic in providing free testing and medicines for women, protecting their health, and empowering families across Chhattisgarh and the nation. The Chief Minister praised initiatives like the Matru Vandana Yojana, Poshan Abhiyan, and the Sickle Cell Mission for saving lives and protecting vulnerable communities, while also noting that over 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty under the Prime Minister’s policies. He described this as a testament to sensitive governance and a commitment to inclusive development.

At the Raipur venue, Chief Minister Sai released the Nutrition Month calendar and honored meritorious girl studentsunder the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. He inspected various health and nutrition stalls set up by the Women and Child Development Department and the Health Department, which showcased government initiatives such as adolescent health, TB and sickle cell testing, maternal health programs, Chhattisgarh’s millet-based nutrition schemes, Mission Shakti, Mission Vatsalya, and campaigns against child marriage. He interacted with visitors to understand how these programs were benefitting families on the ground.
To spread awareness across the state, the Chief Minister flagged off the Nutrition Chariot, which will travel through districts to educate women on nutrition and health practices. In a symbolic act under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, Chief Minister Sai and Union Minister Annapurna Devi planted sandalwood saplings on the university campus, reinforcing the message of health, sustainability, and legacy.
The event saw the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw, Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade, Skill Development Minister Guru Khuswant Saheb, MP Brijmohan Agrawal, and MLAs Rajesh Munat, Purandar Mishra, and Sunil Soni, among others, who joined to mark the historic occasion.
The simultaneous launch of the Healthy Women-Empowered Family Scheme and the 8th National Nutrition Monthsymbolizes the government’s integrated approach to health, nutrition, and empowerment. With the focus firmly on women—the backbone of every family—the campaigns aim to ensure that the vision of a healthier and more prosperous India is realized in the years ahead.
