TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 23, 2025: In a significant step towards strengthening transparency and digital governance, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today launched the MGNREGA Darpan Citizen Information Board during the state-level Mahatari Sadan inauguration program at Kareli Badi village in Dhamtari district. The initiative will allow villagers across Chhattisgarh to instantly access details of MGNREGA works completed in the last three years by simply scanning a QR code installed on information boards in every gram panchayat.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister described MGNREGA Darpan as an innovative and citizen-centric tool designed to bring accountability into the system. “This initiative sets a new benchmark in transparency by digitally linking villagers with development works. It is not just about data, but about empowering every rural household with access to information at their fingertips,” he said.
The project is powered by QR code integration and Geographic Information System (GIS) technology, enabling citizens to check project approvals, expenditure records, and current progress status directly on their mobile phones. By replacing paper records with digital platforms, the government aims to end reliance on official intermediaries and ensure that villagers can independently verify the status of local development works.
Through the MGNREGA Darpan portal and boards, all records will be updated periodically and preserved digitally, eliminating confusion and facilitating real-time monitoring of projects. Officials stressed that the initiative will enhance public trust, minimize the scope for corruption, and foster direct public participation in governance.
The launch ceremony was attended by Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Vijay Sharma, Revenue Minister Tankaram Verma, MP Roop Kumari Chaudhary, MLA Ajay Chandrakar, Secretary Niharika Barik, senior officials, and a large gathering of villagers. Leaders emphasized that the system is not only a move towards transparency but also a milestone in the state’s vision of digital empowerment and good governance.
With this initiative, Chhattisgarh positions itself as a leader in leveraging technology for rural accountability, ensuring that development projects under MGNREGA are visible, measurable, and accessible to every villager.
