TFP,Raipur; Sep 24, 2023: Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has lauded the pivotal role of physiotherapists in alleviating the lingering repercussions of COVID-19 on individuals’ health. The relentless struggle against the pandemic illuminated the significance of physiotherapy in restoring health and well-being. In contemporary times, physiotherapy stands as a beacon of hope, aiding in the recovery from physical pain, paralysis, and neurological disorders.

Mr. Baghel expressed these sentiments during his address at the inaugural ‘Physiocon 2023,’ a prestigious event held at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College Auditorium in Raipur. Organized under the auspices of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists, the conference facilitated constructive discussions among physiotherapy experts and professionals hailing from various corners of the state. The Chief Minister, Mr. Baghel, and Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. T.S. Singh Deo, were both honored with tokens of appreciation at this esteemed gathering.

Highlighting the modern lifestyle’s sedentary nature, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel underscored the dwindling physical activity levels as a precursor to various health maladies. He stressed the importance of striking a balance between exertion and rest, recognizing the human body’s innate need for physical activity. Beyond its therapeutic role in healthcare, physiotherapy has emerged as a vital component in enhancing athletes’ physical capabilities.

Mr. Baghel noted the common recommendation of physiotherapy for patients grappling with fractures or chronic pain, emphasizing the importance of professional supervision. He also advocated for regular exercise and yoga to maintain overall health, attributing physiotherapy’s principles to the necessity of proper body movement.

Drawing attention to the contemporary lifestyle’s increased reliance on mental activity and decreased physical engagement, Mr. Baghel underscored physiotherapy’s growing significance. He hailed the rapid expansion of healthcare facilities in the state over the past five years, crediting the government’s initiatives and dedication to healthcare advancements. Furthermore, he commended physiotherapists for their invaluable contributions during the trying times of the COVID-19 pandemic and pledged support for the expeditious establishment of the Physiotherapy Council as per the association’s request.

Deputy Chief Minister Mr. T.S. Singh Deo, addressing the assembly, reiterated the paramount importance of physiotherapy in both everyday life and the realm of sports. He emphasized that physiotherapy has seamlessly integrated into the world of sports, becoming a cornerstone of athletes’ performance enhancement. Mr. Singh Deo also shared his personal experiences related to physiotherapy, highlighting its role in former Chief Minister Mr. Ajit Jogi’s recovery following an accident. He stressed the urgent need to disseminate awareness about physiotherapy among the public.

The program featured an address by Dr. Sanjiv Jha, the National President of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists. Dr. Prashant Chakraborty, President of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (Chhattisgarh branch), along with prominent physiotherapists Dr. Faizan, Dr. Ali Irani, Dr. Joji John, Dr. Ruchi Wasnik, and Dr. Avinash Kushwaha, as well as numerous physiotherapists from across the state, graced the event with their presence.
