TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 2, 2025: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai paid rich tributes by garlanding their statues in the heart of the capital city, Raipur.
At Azad Chowk, the Chief Minister offered floral respects at the statue of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Remembering his ideals, CM Sai said that Gandhiji gave the freedom struggle a new direction through non-violence and truth, while also stressing the importance of cleanliness and moral responsibility. “Gandhiji’s vision remains a guiding light for generations, inspiring us to build a society rooted in truth, justice, and dignity,” he remarked.
Proceeding to Shastri Chowk, the Chief Minister garlanded the statue of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. Paying homage, he said that Shastriji’s life embodied honesty, simplicity, and discipline. “His unforgettable contribution to the freedom struggle and the making of modern India continues to inspire the nation. With the slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,’ Shastriji recognized the strength of soldiers and farmers as the true backbone of India, leading the country towards self-reliance and hard work,” CM Sai said.
The tribute programme was attended by MLA Purandar Mishra, Mayor Meenal Choubey, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Sanjay Srivastava, along with several public representatives and citizens who joined in remembering the two great leaders.
