BCCL Prepares for Special Campaign 5.0 with Focus on Cleanliness, Efficiency, and Community Engagement

TFP Bureau, Dhanbad, October 1, 2025: Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, is preparing to roll out its initiatives under the nationwide Special Campaign 5.0. In a comprehensive review meeting chaired by Chairman-cum-Managing Director Manoj Kumar Agarwal, the company assessed its preparedness and finalized strategies to ensure wide participation and measurable impact. Director (HR) M.K. Ramaiah and nodal officers from various departments joined the deliberations.

CMD Agarwal stressed that the campaign is closely aligned with the Government of India’s vision of promoting cleanliness, enhancing administrative efficiency, and embedding sustainable practices in organizational functioning. He urged all departments and operational areas to demonstrate proactive participation, ensuring that the campaign translates into visible results for both employees and the surrounding communities.

As part of the preparatory exercise, a video conference was held earlier in the day with the Secretary (Coal), Ministry of Coal, Government of India. BCCL presented its roadmap and key initiatives during the session. The Secretary appreciated the company’s efforts and encouraged PSUs to adopt innovative, community-centric approaches that can serve as replicable models across the sector.

Planned Initiatives Under Special Campaign 5.0

BCCL has designed a series of activities blending workplace efficiency with public awareness and social responsibility. A company-wide Inter-Area and Headquarters Cleanliness Competition will be organized, with the top three offices to be felicitated by the CMD. To extend the message beyond office premises, Nukkad Nataks (street plays) will be staged at prominent intersections in Dhanbad, raising public awareness about hygiene and responsible civic behavior.

In support of sustainability and circular economy principles, BCCL will implement Waste to Wealth initiatives at the Area level, converting discarded materials into useful products. Another major step will be the redistribution of functional but outdated electronic equipment—including computers, UPS units, and printers—which will be refurbished and provided to underprivileged communities, schools, and local institutions.

Recognizing the role of youth in shaping future civic practices, BCCL will also conduct awareness sessions in schools across Dhanbad, encouraging children to adopt clean habits and understand their responsibilities toward maintaining a healthy environment.

The Ministry of Coal and its PSUs have reiterated their collective commitment to Special Campaign 5.0, with an emphasis on inclusive participation, innovation, and meaningful community engagement. With its blend of administrative efficiency and social outreach, BCCL aims to make this edition of the campaign a milestone in its journey toward sustainable and community-driven development.
