‘Sangini’ Diwali Hampers Spark Demand Surge in Sakti District

TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 17, 2025: Ahead of Diwali, women associated with the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission (Bihan) in Sakti district have turned the festive season into an opportunity for empowerment and entrepreneurship. Members of the Radha Krishna Self-Help Group from Paladi Khurd village are preparing attractive gift hampers under their “Sangini” brand, featuring scented and designer wax products, which have gained strong demand across the region.

The initiative, supported by the Sakti district administration, marks a significant stride in rural women’s economic independence and employment generation. The administration has been providing continuous assistance in product design, packaging, and marketing, helping women expand their reach and confidence.

Speaking about their success, group member Pushpa Didi shared that the women produce a range of festive items, including Rakhis, Rangolis, pickles, Gulal, and decorative wax products. “These efforts have not only improved our income but also strengthened our self-confidence. We are proud to contribute to our families and community,” she said.

Earlier, the group members received specialized training in designer candle making through the Rural Self-Employment Training Institute (R-SETI). Inspired by ideas seen on online platforms, they decided to create Diwali gift hampers featuring their handcrafted products. The initiative quickly attracted orders from various industries and institutions in the district.

Currently, the women have secured confirmed orders worth ₹60,000, and the total expected revenue from this festive season is estimated between ₹1.5 lakh and ₹2 lakh. Each hamper is being prepared and delivered with care, creativity, and attractive packaging.

District officials noted that the “Sangini” initiative under the Bihan Mission has become an outstanding example of women’s entrepreneurship, combining traditional skills with modern market opportunities. The project is helping women in rural areas gain financial independence, build sustainable livelihoods, and inspire others to follow their path of innovation and self-reliance.

The administration aims to further expand the “Sangini” brand, ensuring that such initiatives continue to empower women across Chhattisgarh while promoting locally made, eco-friendly, and culturally rich products.
