‘Urjavan Chhattisgarh’ Chronicles 25 Years of Power Sector Growth: CM Vishnu Deo Sai Releases Coffee Table Book

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday released the coffee table book ‘Urjavan Chhattisgarh’, published by the Chhattisgarh State Power Board on the occasion of its silver jubilee, marking 25 years of the state’s formation and its journey in the power sector. The book was unveiled at the Chief Minister’s Office in the new Vidhansabha complex.

The publication documents the evolution of Chhattisgarh’s energy landscape over the past quarter century, capturing key milestones, achievements and the development trajectory of the Chhattisgarh State Power Board and its successor power generation, transmission and distribution companies.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the coffee table book offers a comprehensive and vivid account of the historic transformation of the state’s power sector. He noted that it showcases major infrastructure development, technological advancements and public service-oriented initiatives that have strengthened Chhattisgarh’s position as a power-surplus state.

CM Sai said the book highlights wide-ranging reforms in the electricity sector, including the establishment of supercritical thermal power plants, expansion of coal mining operations, and the achievement of an installed power generation capacity of around 32,000 MW. It also documents the strengthening of the transmission and distribution network across urban and rural areas, ensuring reliable and quality power supply to consumers.

Congratulating the Chhattisgarh State Power Board and its successor companies, the Chief Minister lauded the dedication, commitment and contributions of officers and employees working in the energy sector. He said their sustained efforts have played a crucial role in supporting industrial growth, agriculture, and overall socio-economic development in the state.

The event was attended by the Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary and Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company Shri Subodh Kumar Singh; Energy Secretary and Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation and Distribution Company Shri Rohit Yadav; Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company Shri Rajesh Kumar Shukla; Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Shri Bhim Singh Kanwar; and senior officials including Shri J.S. Netam, Shri Sanjeev Singh and Shri Ashutosh Jaiswal.

The release of ‘Urjavan Chhattisgarh’ marks a significant moment in documenting the state’s power sector journey, reflecting Chhattisgarh’s commitment to sustainable energy development and efficient public service delivery.
