TFP Bureau, Mumbai, January 4, 2026: In a significant step towards strengthening advanced healthcare infrastructure, NTPC Limited – Western Region–I Headquarters, Mumbai, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute (GCRI) for the upgradation of radiotherapy services. The initiative, undertaken as part of NTPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, aims to enhance access to modern cancer treatment facilities for patients in Gujarat and neighbouring regions.
Under the agreement, NTPC has sanctioned financial assistance of ₹23.16 crore for the Siddhpur Satellite Centre of GCRI, Ahmedabad. The funds will be utilised for the procurement and installation of a high-energy Linear Accelerator (LINAC), a state-of-the-art radiotherapy system that enables precise and effective cancer treatment. The installation of the advanced equipment is expected to significantly improve treatment outcomes while expanding the institute’s capacity to provide quality radiotherapy services.
The MoA was formally exchanged between Dr. Shashank Pandya, Director, Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute, and Shri E. Satya Phani Kumar, Regional Executive Director (West–I), NTPC, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations. The signing ceremony marked a key milestone in collaborative efforts between the public sector enterprise and a leading oncology institution.
The event was held in the presence of Shri Akhaya Kumar Patra, General Manager (OS), Shri A.P. Samal, CEO (NPUNL) and CGM (Nuclear), and Smt. Vandana Chaturvedi, Regional Head of Human Resources (West–I), along with other senior officials of NTPC WR–I and members of the CSR team. Senior representatives from GCRI also attended the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted that the addition of the high-energy LINAC will strengthen GCRI’s ability to deliver advanced radiotherapy with greater precision, reduced treatment time and improved patient safety. The upgrade is expected to benefit a large number of cancer patients, particularly those from rural and semi-urban areas who depend on public healthcare institutions for affordable treatment.
The initiative underscores NTPC’s continued commitment to inclusive development and social responsibility, with a strong focus on healthcare, education and community welfare. By supporting critical medical infrastructure through targeted CSR interventions, NTPC aims to contribute meaningfully to improving public health outcomes and enhancing access to quality medical care across the country.
