Union Budget Sets Roadmap for Developed India by 2047, Says Manohar Lal

Union Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal describes the Union Budget as a catalyst for renewal and inclusive growth, reiterates Centre’s commitment to Chhattisgarh’s comprehensive development.

TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 8, 2026: Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal on Sunday described the Union Budget as a transformative and forward-looking document that lays a strong foundation for achieving the vision of a Developed India by 2047. Addressing a press conference during his one-day visit to Raipur, the Union Minister said the Budget reflects the government’s resolve to steer the country towards sustained economic growth, social inclusion and robust infrastructure development over the next 25 years.

Shri Manohar Lal said the Union Budget clearly defines the long-term direction of national development, encompassing economic reforms, social welfare measures and large-scale infrastructure expansion. He noted that the preparation of the Budget at Kartavya Bhavan for the first time symbolises a new phase of governance marked by responsibility, transparency and a sense of national duty.

Highlighting federal cooperation, the Union Minister said the Budget has incorporated the recommendations and broader framework of the 16th Finance Commission, which will provide fresh momentum to the development of states. He expressed confidence that enhanced devolution of resources and well-structured fiscal planning would enable states to accelerate growth while addressing region-specific priorities.

The Union Minister emphasised that the effective implementation of Budget provisions would bring visible improvements in key sectors such as power generation and distribution, housing, urban development and core infrastructure. He said these sectors would play a decisive role in improving the quality of life of citizens, generating employment and strengthening India’s economic resilience.

Referring specifically to Chhattisgarh, Shri Manohar Lal said the Central Government is fully sensitive to the developmental needs of the state and remains committed to its all-round progress. He underlined that focused investments in urban infrastructure, affordable housing, energy systems and public amenities would support Chhattisgarh’s growth trajectory and contribute to balanced regional development.

The press conference was attended by Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Tokhan Sahu, State Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary, Members of Parliament Shri Santosh Pandey and Shri Brijmohan Agrawal, along with other public representatives and senior officials.
