Bastar Pandum Signals a New Chapter of Peace, Pride and Cultural Renaissance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hails Bastar Pandum as a reflection of Bastar’s transformed identity, while Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai reiterates the State’s resolve to drive development without diluting tribal traditions.

TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 10, 2026: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has lauded Bastar Pandum as a powerful expression of Bastar’s changing narrative, calling it a grand celebration of the region’s rich tribal culture, traditions and heritage. Extending his congratulations to all artists, organisers and participants associated with the three-day cultural festival held from February 7 to 9, the Prime Minister said such initiatives play a crucial role in preserving India’s cultural legacy while empowering local communities and strengthening their self-confidence.

The Prime Minister observed that Bastar, once largely associated with Maoist violence, instability and developmental challenges, is now steadily emerging as a symbol of peace, progress and cultural pride. He said the transformation of Bastar reflects the collective efforts of the government and the people, adding that the region is now being recognised across the country for its vibrant traditions, creativity and resilience. Expressing optimism about the future, Shri Modi said he envisioned a Bastar that moves forward with harmony, development and renewed cultural identity.

Reacting to the Prime Minister’s message, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his gratitude and said that under Shri Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership and continuous guidance, Bastar is witnessing a historic turnaround. He described Bastar Pandum as more than a cultural festival, calling it a living symbol of Bastar’s reborn identity and a strong platform for showcasing tribal art, folk traditions and indigenous heritage.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that festivals like Bastar Pandum help preserve and promote tribal customs, dances, music, cuisine and crafts, while also sending a powerful message of peace, trust and inclusive development. He added that such events instil pride among tribal communities and create greater awareness at the national level about Bastar’s cultural richness.

Highlighting the broader transformation underway in the region, the Chief Minister said the coordinated efforts of the Central and State governments are clearly visible on the ground. Expansion of road networks, improved access to education and healthcare, enhanced communication facilities and growing livelihood opportunities have brought a positive change in everyday life. According to him, these developments have fostered an atmosphere of trust, participation and optimism among local residents.

Reaffirming the State government’s commitment, Shri Sai said Chhattisgarh is working with full dedication to ensure that Bastar’s development journey goes hand in hand with the preservation of tribal identity and heritage.
