- Chhattisgarh Cabinet Clears Key Legislative and Farmer Welfare Measures
- Governor’s address and Appropriation Bill for 2026–27 approved
TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 11, 2026: The Chhattisgarh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, on Tuesday took a series of important policy and legislative decisions at its meeting held at the Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhavan), with a strong focus on legislative preparedness and farmer welfare.
In a significant step towards the forthcoming budget session, the Cabinet approved the address to be delivered by the Hon’ble Governor during the Eighth Session of the Sixth Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, scheduled to be held during February–March 2026. The Governor’s address will outline the priorities, policies and legislative agenda of the State Government for the coming year.
The Cabinet also gave its nod to the draft of the Chhattisgarh Appropriation Bill, 2026, which will be presented in the Legislative Assembly in connection with the Budget Estimates for the financial year 2026–27. The passage of the Appropriation Bill will enable the government to authorise expenditure from the Consolidated Fund of the State and ensure the smooth implementation of budgetary proposals.
The most impactful decision of the meeting, however, pertained to the farming community. The Cabinet resolved that farmers who sold paddy at the Minimum Support Price during the Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26 will be paid the differential amount at the rate of ₹3,100 per quintal in a single installment before the festival of Holi. This move is expected to provide timely financial relief to farmers ahead of the festive season.
During the Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26, the state procured a total of 141.04 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from 25,24,339 farmers across Chhattisgarh. Under the Krishak Unnati Yojana, the State Government will disburse approximately ₹10,000 crore towards the paddy price differential, ensuring direct financial support to cultivators.
Chhattisgarh currently offers the highest paddy procurement price in the country, procuring up to 21 quintals of paddy per acre at the rate of ₹3,100 per quintal. Over the past two years, the state has already disbursed more than ₹25,000 crore to farmers under the Krishak Unnati Yojana. With the proposed ₹10,000 crore payout this year, the total amount transferred to farmers under the scheme will reach approximately ₹35,000 crore.
The Cabinet decision reinforces the state government’s commitment to strengthening the rural economy and safeguarding farmers’ incomes. Officials said the timely disbursal of the differential amount will help farmers meet agricultural expenses, household needs and festive expenditures, while also boosting rural demand.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on ensuring effective implementation of Cabinet decisions and maintaining fiscal discipline while continuing welfare-oriented governance in the state.
