Devotional Ram Katha by veteran actor Arun Govil enthrals devotees as Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai underscores Chhattisgarh’s commitment to preserving Sanatan heritage and promoting religious tourism
TFP Bureau, Raipur/Rajim, February 16, 2026: The sacred township of Rajim, revered as the Prayag of Chhattisgarh, came alive with an overwhelming surge of faith, devotion and cultural vibrancy as Rajim Kumbh Kalp 2026 unfolded on the holy banks of the Triveni Sangam. Thousands of devotees, saints and cultural enthusiasts gathered to witness a spiritually immersive cultural evening that reflected the timeless traditions and deep-rooted spiritual ethos of the state.
The highlight of the evening was the soul-stirring presentation “Suno Shri Ram Kahani” by renowned actor Arun Govil, who is widely revered for his iconic portrayal of Lord Shri Ram on television. As Govil narrated episodes from the Ram Katha with devotional fervour, the entire Kumbh परिसर resonated with chants, bhajans and a profound sense of reverence, creating an atmosphere of collective spiritual upliftment.
On the sidelines of the event, Govil paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, lauding the scale, discipline and devotional ambience of the Rajim Kumbh Kalp. The Chief Minister honoured the actor with a memento as a mark of respect and appreciation. Expressing his gratitude, Govil said the warmth of the people, the sanctity of the land and Chhattisgarh’s rich cultural traditions made the experience deeply memorable for him.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sai said Rajim Kumbh Kalp was not merely a religious congregation but a living expression of Chhattisgarh’s Sanatan values, cultural continuity and spiritual consciousness. He noted that such events serve as a bridge between tradition and the present generation, strengthening social harmony while reinforcing the state’s civilisational identity. “Our government is fully committed to conserving and promoting faith, culture and heritage, while also expanding the scope of religious and spiritual tourism,” he said.
The Chief Minister further emphasised that Rajim Kumbh Kalp has gradually emerged as a national platform showcasing Chhattisgarh’s spiritual legacy, folk traditions and cultural diversity. He added that the festival plays a key role in enhancing the state’s visibility on the spiritual tourism map of India and contributes to local livelihoods and cultural pride.
The programme was attended by Food Minister Shri Dayal Das Baghel, Culture and Tourism Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Mahasamund MP Smt. Roopkumari Choudhary, Rajim MLA Shri Rohit Sahu, senior officials, saints, scholars and a large number of devotees from across the state and beyond.
