TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 30, 2025 — The New Raipur capital region is now connected to the broader rail network, enhancing transportation convenience for citizens and government employees. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Abhanpur-Raipur MEMU train service through video conferencing today, marking a significant milestone in improving travel between Raipur, Mandir Hasaud, Naya Raipur, Abhanpur, and surrounding areas.
The new MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) service will make daily commutes more affordable and efficient, with regular trains operating from Raipur Railway Station to Abhanpur, passing through key stations like Mandir Hasaud, CBD, Kendri, and Naya Raipur’s Central Business District (CBD). The fare for the service is set at just ten rupees, offering an economical travel option for government employees, students, and the general public.
The Prime Minister also dedicated four completed rail projects in Chhattisgarh worth Rs 2,695 crore, while laying the foundation stone for seven additional rail initiatives. The MEMU train service, which uses advanced three-phase technology, is designed to provide energy efficiency, higher speeds, and superior comfort for passengers. It features aesthetically designed coaches, cushioned seating, large windows, and mobile charging sockets. Additionally, each coach is equipped with GPS-based information systems, CCTV surveillance, and eco-friendly bio-toilets, ensuring a modern and safe travel experience.
This initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing transportation infrastructure and connectivity in the region, benefiting both commuters and the local economy.
