TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 1, 2025: The Vishnudev Sai government of Chhattisgarh is set to implement a comprehensive e-office system starting April 1, aiming to replace the traditional manual file system and tackle issues such as corruption and inefficiency. Under the new system, files will be handled digitally on computers, with an emphasis on timely settlement. Additionally, concerned officers will receive SMS notifications regarding the arrival of files, ensuring better tracking and management.
According to officials from the General Administration Department, the target is to implement e-office across all state government departments. The Mahanadi Bhawan will also be included, with plans to digitize over 2 lakh files by the end of the initiative. The Digital Secretariat 1.0 program, which started in 2014 and continued through 2021, digitized 2 lakh files in the Ministry during its pilot phase. Following its success, Digital Secretariat 2.0 was launched in August 2021, and the transition to an e-office system is now expanding to the entire state.
The Digital Secretariat initiative, aimed at boosting administrative efficiency and reducing paper usage, has already started the shift to NIC’s e-File Module (e-Office Suite). This move is expected to enhance transparency, streamline workflow, and ensure faster processing of files. As of April 1, e-office operations will also be rolled out in departmental head offices, directorates, and district offices. Nodal officers have been appointed in all departments to ensure the timely implementation of the system.
The e-office system offers three methods for file transmission: Aadhaar OTP, digital signature certificates (DSC), and a temporary exemption allowing files to be sent directly without an OTP or e-signature. This exemption will be valid until March 31, 2025, after which all offices will be required to use digital signatures for official file processing.
Officials are confident that the e-office will bring significant improvements in governance, reduce administrative delays, and contribute to a more transparent and accountable government system.
