Bastar Pandum: A Cultural Renaissance for Development, Says Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai

TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 31, 2025: The upcoming Bastar Pandum 2025, a festival celebrating the art, culture, and traditions of the Bastar region, promises to mark a new chapter in the region’s development through culture. Set to take place on April 3, the festival will feature a special recitation by renowned poet Dr. Kumar Vishwas, who will narrate the unique story of ‘Bastar’s Ram’. This event, which will take place in Dantewada, aims to highlight Bastar’s spiritual significance and foster peace and cultural revival.

In his remarks, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai hailed the festival as more than just an event—calling it a cultural renaissance that connects the soul of Bastar to its rich traditions and spiritual legacy. “Bastar Pandum is a celebration of Bastar’s identity, faith, and aspirations. Programs like ‘Bastar Ke Ram’ symbolize how the path to progress is deeply rooted in culture and tradition,” he said. The Chief Minister expressed his confidence that the festival would establish Bastar as a prominent cultural destination on the global map and inspire future generations to embrace their tribal heritage with pride.

The event will also focus on Bastar’s historical connection to the Ramayana, as the region is significant for being part of the Dandakaranya forests, where Lord Ram spent time during his exile. Dr. Kumar Vishwas will narrate the special story of ‘Bastar Ke Ram’, exploring the deep spiritual and cultural ties between the region and Lord Ram, creating a bridge between mythology and local traditions. “When the echoes of Ram Katha by Dr. Kumar Vishwas resonate through the valleys of Bastar, it will symbolize not just storytelling, but a deeper feeling of peace, unity, and cultural rebirth,” added the Chief Minister.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma emphasized that festivals like Bastar Pandum and programs like ‘Bastar Ke Ram’ are vital in connecting Bastar to the rest of India and the world. He praised the Chief Minister’s vision for the region, noting that such cultural initiatives are crucial in ending violence and establishing peace through unity and shared traditions. “Today, Bastar proudly witnesses the end of conflict and the rise of peace through culture,” he said.

The Bastar Pandum 2025 festival, organized by the state government, will feature a variety of programs aimed at preserving and promoting the local tribal art, culture, and lifestyle. The inaugural session, set to begin at 6 pm, will feature Dr. Kumar Vishwas’s recitation of ‘Bastar Ke Ram’, marking the beginning of a new era for the region’s cultural and economic growth.
