Ground Broken for ₹20.93-Crore Water Tank Project to Boost Supply in Raipur

New 2,500-kilolitre facility in Khamhardih to benefit 2,500 households across four wards with upgraded pipeline network

TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 14,2026: Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Arun Sao on Sunday laid the foundation stone for a 2,500-kilolitre capacity overhead water tank in Khamhardih, marking the start of a major drinking water infrastructure project aimed at improving supply to thousands of residents in Raipur.

The project, to be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹20.93 crore under the Mukhyamantri Nagarotthan Yojana, is expected to provide a reliable water supply to around 2,500 households. As part of the initiative, a 2-km rising main pipeline and a 25-km distribution network will be laid across Wards 9, 10, 30 and 31, strengthening the city’s drinking water system in these areas.

MLAs Shri Sunil Soni and Shri Purandar Mishra, along with Raipur Mayor Smt. Minal Chaubey, were also present at the ground-breaking ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, Arun Sao said ensuring access to safe drinking water is one of the government’s foremost responsibilities. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and the city administration, Raipur is witnessing rapid infrastructure development and beautification befitting its status as the state capital.

The Deputy Chief Minister added that the city’s elected representatives are working together to secure approvals for projects that enhance civic amenities and improve the quality of life for residents.

MLA Purandar Mishra said the commencement of the water tank project fulfilled a long-standing promise made to the people of Khamhardih. He also claimed that the present state government had undertaken more development work during its tenure than its predecessor.

Mayor Minal Chaubey described the occasion as a milestone for local residents, saying the project would provide a lasting solution to the area’s water supply issues. She credited the state government and the Deputy Chief Minister for facilitating the funds and ensuring the project’s implementation.

Several public representatives and civic officials attended the ceremony, including State Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Shri Sanjay Srivastava, Raipur Municipal Corporation Water Works Department Chairperson Smt. Santosh Seema Sahu, Zone-3 Chairperson Smt. Sadhana Pramod Sahu, Zone-5 Chairperson Shri Ambar Agrawal, members of the Mayor-in-Council, corporators and other local dignitaries.
