Anil Agarwal Foundation to strengthen early childhood education, nutrition, healthcare and women’s empowerment through modern Anganwadi centres
TFP Bureau, Patna, July 20,2026: The Anil Agarwal Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Bihar to expand its flagship Nand Ghar initiative across the state, marking a significant step towards improving early childhood education, nutrition, healthcare and women’s empowerment.
Announcing the development, Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to the holistic development of children and women in Bihar. Under the initiative, modern Nand Ghars will be established to strengthen Anganwadi services and provide integrated support for child development and community welfare.
Sharing the announcement through his official X (formerly Twitter) account, @AnilAgarwal_Ved, Agarwal described Bihar as more than just his birthplace, saying the state has played a defining role in shaping his values and vision. He said contributing to Bihar’s development is both a responsibility and a privilege.
Highlighting the importance of early childhood development, Agarwal said the first six years of a child’s life are crucial in laying the foundation for future success. Through the Nand Ghar initiative, children will receive quality pre-school education, improved nutrition and better healthcare services, helping them grow into healthy and confident individuals.
He also stressed that the initiative places equal emphasis on empowering women by providing skill development programmes and livelihood opportunities. According to Agarwal, empowering women leads to stronger families and more prosperous communities, creating a lasting impact across generations.
Describing the partnership as an important milestone in Bihar’s development journey, Agarwal said expanding the Nand Ghar network would contribute to social progress while strengthening the state’s human development indicators. He added that promoting industrial growth in Bihar would be his next major area of focus.
The Vedanta Chairman thanked the Bihar Government, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, concerned departments and district administrations for their support in making the initiative possible. He called upon all stakeholders to work together to take the Nand Ghar movement to every corner of the state.
The Nand Ghar initiative aims to transform traditional Anganwadi centres into modern community hubs equipped with improved educational infrastructure, nutrition services, healthcare facilities and digital learning tools. In addition to supporting children’s development, the centres also provide women with vocational training and income-generation opportunities, making them catalysts for inclusive and sustainable rural development.
Officials said the collaboration is expected to strengthen Bihar’s social development ecosystem by ensuring better access to quality education, healthcare and livelihood opportunities, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
