CM Vishnu Dev Sai calls project a historic step in e-governance, education, healthcare and entrepreneurship
TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 3, 2026: Chhattisgarh has taken a major leap towards digital empowerment in rural areas with the approval of ₹3,942 crore under the Amended BharatNet Program, the Union Ministry of Communications announced. The funding will connect 11,682 Gram Panchayats across the state using a modern ring topology network, ensuring secure, reliable, and seamless digital services for rural communities.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai described the project as a “historic step towards rural digital empowerment,” highlighting its transformative potential in governance, education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship. He said the expanded digital connectivity will enable e-governance services, telemedicine facilities in remote areas, online learning for students, and create opportunities for rural youth and entrepreneurs to participate in the digital economy.
“Digital connectivity is no longer just an internet facility; it is the lifeline of a developed Chhattisgarh,” Shri Sai said. “This initiative will enhance transparency, accelerate service delivery, and integrate villages into the rapidly growing digital landscape.”
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Narendra Modi and Jyotiraditya Scindia for their support in securing the approval. He added that with the backing of the Central Government, Chhattisgarh is advancing as a digitally empowered, secure, and self-reliant state.
Officials said the ring topology network design under the BharatNet Program will ensure that Gram Panchayats remain digitally connected even in case of network disruptions, providing uninterrupted services for education, governance, and healthcare. The initiative is expected to transform the state’s rural landscape by linking villages to the broader digital economy and enabling a new wave of innovation and entrepreneurship.
