CM Vishnu Dev Sai Reviews Home Department Progress

TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 9, 2025: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai chaired a high-level review meeting of the Home Department at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan in Nava Raipur on Tuesday, focusing on the implementation of new criminal laws and the improvement of crime investigation standards in Chhattisgarh.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the urgent and effective enforcement of the newly introduced Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), part of the Indian government’s recent overhaul of the country’s criminal laws. “These new laws will not only strengthen the justice delivery system but also instill fear among criminals and build confidence among citizens,” he stated.

Training, Technology and Transparency in Focus

Shri Sai instructed that practical and in-depth training sessions on the new legal provisions be conducted across districts for police personnel, prosecution officers, and relevant stakeholders. He recommended organizing workshops and seminars using case studies and mock trials to ensure ground-level preparedness.

The Chief Minister also underscored the need for a scientific, evidence-based approach to crime investigation. “It is not enough to make arrests—investigations must be backed by accurate and solid evidence to ensure conviction,” he said. He called for equipping investigating officers with training in modern techniques, including digital forensics, the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS), and other scientific tools.

Cybercrime Awareness and Public Engagement

Acknowledging the rising threat of cybercrimes, the Chief Minister directed the Home Department to upgrade the technical capacity of the state’s cyber cells and launch widespread awareness campaigns to educate citizens about digital safety and fraud prevention.

He reiterated the state government’s commitment to providing timely justice and ensuring transparency and efficiency in the investigation process.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Pingua, Director General of Police Shri Arun Dev Gautam, Principal Secretary to CM Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary Shri Rahul Bhagat, and other senior officials were present during the review.
