Gratuity Dues Cleared for Bhilai Civic Staff After Years

TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 9, 2025: In a major relief to retired and deceased employees of Bhilai Municipal Corporation, gratuity payments and other long-pending dues have finally been cleared after several years, thanks to the intervention of Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Arun Saw.

For more than seven years, gratuity, GPF/CPF, leave encashment, medical reimbursements, and other arrears had been pending for over 300 officers and employees. On learning of the situation, Deputy CM Shri Saw promptly directed officials to initiate necessary action. Within days of receiving approval, the state government sanctioned the disbursal of Rs 15 crore—Rs 10.85 crore from the accumulated fund and Rs 4.36 crore from lease free-hold funds—allowing the dues to be transferred directly into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts by April 5.

Relief for Families Awaiting Financial Support

The cleared payments have brought immense relief to the families of the affected employees. Many had been awaiting funds to cover important life events such as weddings, medical treatments, or home construction. Grateful beneficiaries, including retired employees and families of deceased staff, visited the Deputy CM at his Raipur residence office on Tuesday to express their thanks.

Members of the Bhilai Municipal Corporation Autonomous Employees Federation and Chhattisgarh Employees Congress, along with former officers, praised Shri Saw’s swift and sensitive response. “Thanks to your leadership, smiles have returned to families who had been waiting for years. Your efforts have brought joy to hundreds of households,” said representatives of the employee unions during the meeting.
