ISRO Scientists Visit Dantewada District Science Centre, Laud Efforts to Promote Scientific Temper

Team appreciates hands-on learning initiatives, innovation programmes and science outreach activities for students in the tribal region

TFP Bureau,!Raipur, August 4, 2026: A team of scientists from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), led by senior scientist Professor Anand, visited the District Science Centre in Dantewada and commended its efforts to promote scientific learning and innovation among students, particularly in the tribal region.

During the visit, the ISRO delegation toured the centre’s Space Gallery, Physics Gallery and Mining Gallery, besides examining various interactive science exhibits, working models and “Learn by Doing” activities designed to encourage experiential learning among school students.

The scientists appreciated the initiatives undertaken by the district administration and the Science Centre to foster scientific curiosity and develop a scientific temperament among children. They observed that the centre is playing a significant role in making science engaging and accessible through practical demonstrations and hands-on experiments.

The visiting team also praised the efforts of Centre Head Shri Upendra Gautam and his staff for creating an interactive learning environment that encourages students to explore science beyond classroom education.

Highlighting some of the centre’s unique initiatives, the scientists appreciated its regular educational tours, the “Kabaad se Jugaad” innovation programme that promotes creative use of discarded materials, and astronomy-based documentary screenings. They noted that such activities inspire young minds to pursue careers in science, technology, space research and innovation.

The visit concluded with an interaction between the ISRO team and the Science Centre management, which expressed gratitude for the scientists’ encouragement and guidance. The presence of the ISRO delegation generated considerable enthusiasm among students, teachers and science enthusiasts, further motivating them to explore the world of science and technology.
