TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 20, 2025: Chhattisgarh is progressing rapidly in the field of information technology and Aadhaar-based digital governance, said UIDAI CEO Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar at a state-level workshop organized in Raipur. The event, held at the Convention Hall of New Circuit House, aimed at exploring ways to maximize the benefits of Aadhaar integration in public welfare schemes and enhance the effectiveness of digital governance.
The workshop was organized by the Regional Office of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Hyderabad, under the guidance of Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain.
In his inaugural address, UIDAI CEO Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar highlighted that Aadhaar has emerged as a powerful tool in ensuring direct benefit transfers and promoting good governance. “Nearly 140 crore Aadhaar numbers have been issued across the country. The Aadhaar platform is now being integrated with a wide range of services including birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, MNREGA, and PDS,” he said, adding that efforts are underway to make Aadhaar enrolment and updates more seamless through new software and online innovations.
Principal Secretary of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Mrs. Niharika Barik Singh, emphasized that Aadhaar is at the core of India’s digital transformation and public welfare delivery systems. “Chhattisgarh has successfully incorporated Aadhaar authentication in services such as PDS, MNREGA payments, social security pensions, and the state DBT portal. This digital identity is crucial to ensuring transparency, accountability, and last-mile delivery,” she noted.
Deputy Director General of UIDAI’s Hyderabad office, Mrs. P. Sangeeta, said Aadhaar has evolved significantly over the past two decades. “It is no longer just a number, but the backbone of Digital India and good governance. It ensures that benefits reach the right people efficiently,” she added.
Senior UIDAI officials, including Shri Vivek Chandra Verma and Shri Vinod Kumar Singh, spoke about the latest developments in Aadhaar-based authentication, the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System, and provisions under the Aadhaar Act 2016.
Colonel Nikhil Sinha presented updates on Aadhaar enrolment and update systems, while Lt. Colonel Sanjeev Yadav shared comparative insights on Aadhaar implementation across different states, including Chhattisgarh. As part of the “Initiatives and Best Practices” session, Bengaluru Revenue Commissioner Shri Sunil Kumar Pommala shared Karnataka’s successful integration of Aadhaar in land records and agriculture schemes.

CHiPS CEO Shri Prabhat Malik emphasized the importance of Aadhaar authentication in targeting the right beneficiaries and removing ineligible ones from various schemes, ensuring resource optimization.
During the workshop, Aadhaar operators from 14 CHiPS-appointed centers in Chhattisgarh were felicitated for maintaining low error rates in enrolment and update processes over the last six months.
The workshop also included a Q&A session where government officials and Aadhaar operators from across districts interacted with UIDAI experts to address implementation-related queries.
