Two-year industry-oriented course to equip youth with skills in EV technology; online admissions begin
TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 12, 2026: A new avenue for employment and self-employment has opened up for the youth of Dhamtari district with the launch of the ‘Mechanic Electric Vehicle’ trade at the newly established Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Jijamgaon.
The first batch of the trade has commenced from the 2026-27 academic session, marking the beginning of training activities at the new ITI. The initiative is aimed at equipping local youth with modern, industry-relevant skills in response to the rapidly expanding electric vehicle sector and the changing requirements of the automobile industry.
Training in advanced EV technology
The two-year ‘Mechanic Electric Vehicle’ course will provide trainees with practical and industry-oriented training in electric vehicle technology. Key areas will include Battery Management Systems (BMS), motor control, charging systems, vehicle servicing and fault diagnosis.
The trade is currently available in only five government ITIs across Chhattisgarh, making its introduction at Jijamgaon a significant development for the district and surrounding areas.
Growing employment and self-employment opportunities
With the increasing adoption of electric vehicles, the demand for trained technicians is expected to rise at authorised service centres, EV manufacturing units, charging stations and battery-related service facilities.
The training will also enable youth to explore self-employment by setting up their own EV service centres, repair facilities and technical service businesses.
ITI to support emerging industrial ecosystem
The Jijamgaon region is witnessing increasing development and economic activity, including initiatives such as a Forest Park and Food Park. The new ITI is expected to strengthen the local skill ecosystem and help young people take advantage of emerging employment opportunities.
Collector Abinash Mishra recently inspected the land earmarked for construction of the new ITI building.
Yogesh Dewangan, Principal of Government ITI Kurud, the nodal institute for Dhamtari district, has appealed to students and parents to take advantage of the new trade and pursue training in the rapidly growing electric vehicle sector.
Online admission process underway
The online registration and choice-filling process for admission to the ITI has commenced. Eligible candidates can register and submit their choices within the prescribed timeline. Admissions will subsequently be made on the basis of merit.

The establishment of the Jijamgaon ITI was among the development initiatives announced by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai during a programme at Kareli Badi on September 23 last year, when projects worth more than ₹83 crore were announced for Dhamtari district.
