Chhattisgarh Takes Giant Leap into Tech Future with State’s First Semiconductor Plant

TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 11, 2025: In a historic step towards positioning Chhattisgarh as a hub of high-tech innovation, Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai today performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the state’s first semiconductor manufacturing unit in Nava Raipur. The plant, to be established by Polymatech Electronics Pvt. Ltd., marks a significant milestone in the state’s industrial journey and is being hailed as a proud moment for Chhattisgarh.

The Rs 1,143 crore project will be built over 1.5 lakh square feet in Sector-5 of Nava Raipur, with production aimed at delivering 10 billion semiconductor chips by 2030. These chips will be used in advanced technologies including telecom, 6G/7G networks, laptops, and power electronics. The plant is expected to generate significant employment for local youth, with appointment letters distributed by the Chief Minister during the event.

“Nava Raipur to become Silicon Valley of Chhattisgarh”

Speaking at the foundation ceremony, Chief Minister Sai said, “It is a matter of immense pride that the state’s first semiconductor plant is taking shape today. With the new industrial policy providing tailored incentives for this sector, Chhattisgarh is poised to become a key player in India’s tech manufacturing ecosystem.”

He emphasized the importance of technology and innovation in global development, expressing confidence that Nava Raipur will soon emerge as the “Silicon Valley of Chhattisgarh.”

Rapid progress and investor trust

Recounting the swift timeline of the project, the Chief Minister highlighted how the state’s proactive governance enabled the allotment of land by NRDA within 45 days, with lease registration completed in under 25 days. “This reflects our commitment to ease of doing business and building a developed Chhattisgarh,” he added.

The initiative stemmed from an Investors Connect program held in Delhi in December 2024, where Chhattisgarh’s delegation engaged with Polymatech’s leadership, prompting their interest in the state.

Polymatech proposes Rs 10,000 crore additional investment

MD of Polymatech, Shri Ishwar Rao, lauded the cooperation extended by the state government and announced an ambitious proposal to invest an additional Rs 10,000 crore in Chhattisgarh for setting up a power module fabrication facility. The proposed plant will focus on transistors, power electronics, and components for electric vehicles—potentially creating over 5,000 jobs in the state.

The event was graced by several key dignitaries, including Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Lakhanlal Dewangan, Housing and Environment Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary, MLA Guru Khushwant Saheb, Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, senior bureaucrats, and Polymatech officials.

With this landmark initiative, Chhattisgarh sets the tone for a new era in advanced manufacturing, technology-driven growth, and job creation—solidifying its place on India’s tech map.
