‘Pavas Prasang’ to Bring the Magic of Monsoon Alive Through Classical Dance and Music

Four-day cultural programme to be held at Mahant Ghasidas Museum from August 21 to 25; performances will explore the emotional and aesthetic dimensions of the rainy season

TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 18, 2026: The Department of Culture, Government of Chhattisgarh, will organise ‘Pavas Prasang’, a special cultural programme celebrating the beauty and emotions of the monsoon through Indian classical dance and music. The event is being organised under the Departmental Event 2026 series at the open-air stage of the Mahant Ghasidas Museum complex in Civil Lines, Raipur.

The programme will be held on August 21, 22, 24 and 25, with performances beginning at 7 pm each day.

Monsoon portrayed through classical arts

Pavas Prasang will showcase the various moods of the rainy season through the expressive language of classical dance and music. The performances will seek to recreate the rumbling of clouds, rhythm of raindrops, rejuvenation of nature and emotions associated with the arrival of the monsoon.

The monsoon has traditionally held a special place in Indian artistic traditions, inspiring generations of musicians, dancers and poets. The programme will present this rich connection between nature and human emotions through classical performances.

Promoting classical traditions

The Culture Department said the initiative is aimed at bringing quality cultural programmes closer to the public while encouraging and promoting India’s classical art traditions.

The open-air setting at the museum complex is expected to add to the ambience of the performances, allowing audiences to experience the interplay of music, dance, nature and heritage.

The programme will also highlight the close relationship between the changing seasons and human emotions, with different shades and moods of the monsoon being interpreted through dance movements, expressions and musical compositions.

Invitation to art and culture enthusiasts

As part of its 2026 departmental events, the Culture Department is providing a platform for artists and audiences to engage with India’s diverse cultural heritage, including the artistic traditions of Chhattisgarh.

The department has invited art lovers, cultural enthusiasts and the general public to attend Pavas Prasang and experience the monsoon through the evocative medium of Indian classical dance and music.
