No Chhattisgarh Seat Will Be Diverted from Local Students: Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal

State assures transparent NEET-UG counselling; admission to be cancelled for false information, while original documents must be verified before admission is finalised

TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 23, 2026: Chhattisgarh Health and Medical Education Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal has assured that not a single medical seat meant for eligible students of the state will be compromised, and that any attempt to disregard the interests of local students will not be tolerated.

Jaiswal said the expansion of medical colleges and MBBS seats in Chhattisgarh is aimed at ensuring that more students from the state get access to medical education. He said the government would take any complaint or doubt concerning a candidate’s domicile status seriously and conduct a thorough inquiry wherever necessary.

“Students of Chhattisgarh have worked hard, and it is the responsibility of the government to protect their future and rights,” Jaiswal said, adding that while increasing the number of medical colleges and seats is important, it is equally essential to ensure that the benefits reach only eligible candidates.

NEET-UG 2026 Counselling to Follow Transparent Process

The State Counseling Committee said the NEET-UG 2026 state-level counselling process, including registration, merit determination and seat allocation, is being conducted online in accordance with the prescribed admission rules.

The committee has issued detailed guidelines under the Chhattisgarh Medical, Dental and Physiotherapy Undergraduate Admission Rules, 2025.

Original Documents Must Be Verified

Under Rule 7, the counselling process includes registration, determination of preference order, seat allotment, scrutiny of original documents and completion of admission formalities.

During eligibility verification, candidates will be required to produce their domicile certificate, category or sub-category certificates and other mandatory documents. The admission process will be considered complete only after the required original documents have been submitted and verified, and the candidate is found eligible under the applicable rules.

Admission Liable to Cancellation for False Information

The State Counseling Committee has warned candidates against submitting false or incorrect information or concealing relevant facts during the admission process.

Under Rule 12, admission may be cancelled if it is subsequently found that a candidate secured admission by providing incorrect information or suppressing material facts. Admission may also be cancelled if it is later established that it was granted due to an error or oversight.

The committee said any complaint or information concerning domicile certificates or other admission documents would be examined and appropriate action taken in accordance with the rules.

Candidates Advised to Ignore Rumours

The State Counseling Committee has appealed to candidates and their families not to rely on rumours, misconceptions or misleading information concerning NEET-UG counselling.

Candidates can submit complaints or seek clarification through the “Candidates Grievances and Query Redressal System” available under the Candidate Login section of the authorised counselling portal. They may also contact the counselling branch through email at cgdme.counseling@gmail.com.

Jaiswal reiterated that the government would ensure a transparent, rule-based counselling process and protect the legitimate interests of eligible students from Chhattisgarh.
