National conference to bring together women achievers and leaders from across sectors, highlighting the government’s push for women-led development and greater representation in governance on the path to Viksit Bharat 2047.
TFP Bureau, New Delhi, April 12,2026:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a national-level ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’ at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on April 13 at around 11 a.m., bringing together prominent women leaders and achievers from across the country.
The conference is expected to witness the participation of eminent personalities and women achievers representing a wide range of sectors including government, academia, science, sports, entrepreneurship, media, social work and culture. The event aims to celebrate the achievements of women while also discussing their growing role in nation-building and governance.
The Sammelan is being organised as part of the government’s broader effort to promote women-led development and to strengthen the participation of women in decision-making processes at all levels. It will serve as a platform for dialogue and recognition of women’s contributions to India’s social, economic and political progress.
A key highlight of the event will be the discussion on the implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, which was passed by Parliament in September 2023. The landmark legislation provides for reservation of one-third of seats for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies, marking a significant step towards enhancing women’s representation in legislative bodies.
With the government now focusing on advancing the implementation of women’s reservation across the country, a session of Parliament has been convened on April 16 to deliberate on related matters. The Sammelan is expected to underline the importance of increasing women’s participation in leadership roles and policy formulation.
Officials said the programme will highlight the growing presence of women in governance, from grassroots institutions such as Panchayats to the national legislature, reflecting a broader transformation in India’s democratic framework.
The conference will also emphasise the role of women in India’s long-term development vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, which seeks to transform the country into a developed nation by the centenary year of independence. By showcasing achievements and encouraging greater participation of women across sectors, the Sammelan aims to reinforce the government’s commitment to making women central partners in India’s development journey.
