‘Families of martyrs are never alone; caring for their dignity, happiness and future is our heartfelt duty,’ says Chief Minister
TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 25, 2026: A deeply emotional Raksha Bandhan moment unfolded in Raipur on Tuesday when Madhuri Verma, wife of martyred Sub-Inspector Yugal Kishore Verma, tied a Rakhi on the wrist of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at the ‘Sneh Ki Dor’ programme at Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium.
The gesture symbolised not only the traditional bond between a brother and sister but also the state’s gratitude towards the families of security personnel who sacrificed their lives in the fight against Naxal violence.
Chief Minister Sai became visibly emotional during the ceremony. Recalling that he did not have a biological sister, he said, “We are only brothers in the family. Today, Madhuri ji has tied a Rakhi on my wrist. I have found a sister who is even more than a biological sister to me.”
The Chief Minister assured Madhuri Verma that the family of her late husband would be considered his own family. He said families of martyrs should never feel that they were alone and that ensuring their well-being, dignity, happiness and future was not merely a government responsibility but a collective moral duty.
Sai said that after Madhuri tied the Rakhi, his personal responsibility towards her family had acquired an even deeper meaning as a brother.
Paying tribute to Sub-Inspector Yugal Kishore Verma, who was killed in a Naxal encounter, the Chief Minister said Chhattisgarh would remain indebted to its brave soldiers and their families for their supreme sacrifice.
He said the security personnel who laid down their lives had sacrificed their present to ensure a safer and more secure future for the coming generations of Chhattisgarh.
The ceremony brought together the emotions of Raksha Bandhan and the solemn recognition of the sacrifices made by the families of security personnel, underscoring the state’s commitment to stand by them beyond official responsibilities.
