Chhattisgarh Rolls Out Comprehensive Rehabilitation Policy for Surrendered Naxalites

TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 13, 2025: In a significant move to restore peace and stability in Naxal-affected areas, the Chhattisgarh government has implemented the Naxalite Surrender Victim Relief and Rehabilitation Policy 2025. The policy promises a comprehensive support framework for surrendered Naxalites and their families, offering provisions for education, employment, and financial security to help them rejoin mainstream society.

The policy focuses on rehabilitating active, rewarded Naxalites who surrender, aiming to not only encourage more such surrenders but also ensure long-term reintegration and development for those who leave the path of violence.

Government Jobs and Financial Security for Surrendered Rebels

A major highlight of the policy is the provision for government appointments. If a surrendered Naxalite has significantly assisted law enforcement during anti-Naxal operations—putting their own life and property at risk—they may be considered for recruitment as a constable or an equivalent post in the police department. For appointments in other government departments, recommendations from a district-level committee will be required.

In cases where a Naxalite with a reward of Rs 5 lakh or more surrenders, the individual or a family member may be eligible for a government job, provided they meet the necessary criteria. If employment is not possible for any reason, the surrendered person will receive a lump sum of Rs 10 lakh as a fixed deposit. This amount will be disbursed after a three-year period of good conduct.

Educational Support and Scholarships for Families

The policy also places strong emphasis on education for the children of surrendered Naxalites. Children will receive free, priority-based education in government and residential schools up to the age of 18, with hostel facilities provided by the Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Department.

Those opting for private schooling will benefit from reserved seats under the Right to Education Act, along with financial grants. Surrendered individuals or their children wishing to pursue further education independently will be supported through relevant government schemes.

A Step Toward Long-Term Peace and Inclusion

Officials say the policy is designed not only to break the cycle of violence but to build a pathway toward a more inclusive and peaceful society. “This initiative will secure the future of surrendered Naxalites and their families while reinforcing the government’s commitment to development and social harmony,” a senior official said.

With education, employment, and financial aid at its core, the Naxalite Surrender Victim Relief and Rehabilitation Policy 2025 is seen as a vital step in bridging the gap between conflict zones and mainstream progress, offering a second chance to those willing to embrace peace.
