Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel directs officials to expedite farmer registration, paddy procurement arrangements, rice storage and warehouse construction
TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 7, 2026: Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Dayaldas Baghel on Monday reviewed preparations for the Kharif Marketing Year 2026-27 and directed officials to ensure that all arrangements for paddy procurement are completed well in advance.
Chairing a review meeting with senior officials at Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhawan), Nava Raipur, Baghel laid emphasis on accelerating farmer registration, ensuring adequate procurement infrastructure, strengthening rice storage arrangements and completing warehouse construction within stipulated timelines.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the progress of custom-milled rice procurement by the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and the Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation for the Kharif Marketing Year 2025-26. He directed officials to ensure timely storage and distribution of rice for September and October 2026.
Focus on smooth paddy procurement
Reviewing preparations for the upcoming procurement season, Baghel directed officials to make adequate arrangements for gunny bags and ensure proper infrastructure and facilities at newly established paddy procurement centres.
He also ordered officials to accelerate AgriStack registration of farmers who are yet to be registered for the Kharif Marketing Year 2026-27. The Minister stressed the need to strengthen monitoring at procurement and storage centres and reduce shortages to ensure transparency and efficiency in the procurement system.
Warehouses to be completed on schedule
The Minister reviewed the progress of warehouse construction being undertaken by the State Warehousing Corporation and directed officials to ensure that ongoing projects are completed within the prescribed timelines.
He also reviewed the functioning of the Department of Weights and Measures and instructed officials to ensure that all weighbridges (Dharamkanta) are properly verified before the commencement of paddy procurement. The move is aimed at ensuring accurate weighing and preventing discrepancies during procurement.
City Gas Distribution website launched
During the meeting, Minister Baghel also launched the departmental website for the City Gas Distribution Scheme, marking another step towards strengthening digital access to information related to the scheme.
The meeting was attended by Food Secretary Reena Babasaheb Kangale, Food Director Dr Fariya Alam, Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation Managing Director Vilas Bhoskar Sandipan, Marketing Federation Managing Director Jitendra Shukla, FCI General Manager Deepak Sharma and other senior officials.
District Food Controllers/Food Officers, District Marketing Officers, district managers of the Civil Supplies Corporation, managers of the State Warehousing Corporation and district-level officials from the Weights and Measures Department also participated in the review.
