Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai to inaugurate golf tournament; Kapil Dev, DP World PGTI CEO Amandeep Johl to attend
TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 14, 2026: The Naya Raipur Open 2026, an initiative aimed at positioning Naya Raipur as a major golfing destination and promoting sports tourism in Chhattisgarh, will be inaugurated on Tuesday at the Fairway Golf and Lake Resort.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will inaugurate the tournament and attend a press conference associated with the event. Indian cricket legend and DP World Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) President Kapil Dev and DP World PGTI CEO Amandeep Johl will also be present.
The tournament is expected to provide a national platform for golf in Chhattisgarh while highlighting Naya Raipur’s modern infrastructure and sporting facilities.
The Chief Minister will formally inaugurate the event with a ceremonial tee-off at 3.05 p.m. on September 15. The ceremony will be followed by an interaction between the Chief Minister, the visiting dignitaries and participating golfers, besides the unveiling of the tournament trophy.
A press conference will subsequently be held, where the Chief Minister and other officials and guests associated with the tournament will outline its objectives and discuss its potential to promote golf and sports tourism in the State.
The Naya Raipur Open is also aimed at encouraging interest in golf among young people and providing emerging players with greater opportunities to compete and gain exposure. The organisers expect the tournament to help strengthen the sporting ecosystem in the State and attract players, sports enthusiasts and tourists from different parts of the country.
With its modern infrastructure and growing sporting facilities, Naya Raipur is seeking to emerge as a destination for contemporary sports and sports tourism. The tournament is expected to showcase the city’s sporting potential and contribute to the development of a stronger golf culture in Chhattisgarh.
