Smriti Irani Begins First Chhattisgarh Visit as BJP In-Charge, Focuses on Grassroots Strengthening

BJP national general secretary reviews organisational activities in Raipur; directs leaders to prioritise government schemes, improve social media outreach and prepare for Mission 2028 and Mission 2029

TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 25, 2026: BJP national general secretary and newly appointed Chhattisgarh in-charge Smriti Irani arrived in Raipur on Sunday for her first visit to the state since assuming the responsibility. Accompanied by party co-in-charge Siddharth Shambhu, she was welcomed by party workers at the airport before beginning an intensive programme of organisational meetings.

The visit is focused on reviewing the party’s organisational functioning, strengthening its grassroots network and preparing for upcoming electoral challenges, including the BJP’s stated goals of “Mission 2028” and “Mission 2029”.

Emphasis on government schemes and public outreach

Irani began her programme by listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly Mann Ki Baat broadcast alongside party workers at 11 am. During subsequent interactions, she reportedly instructed leaders to focus on communicating the benefits of central and state government schemes to the public rather than prioritising personal publicity.

She stressed the need to ensure that welfare and development programmes reach their intended beneficiaries and that the party’s outreach remains connected to people’s concerns.

IT cell to assess leaders’ social media activities

The BJP’s information technology cell is set to play a more active role in monitoring the party’s digital outreach. Under the proposed exercise, the cell will review social media activity by senior leaders, including the content published through their accounts.

A performance report card will be prepared based on the findings, with the initiative aimed at improving digital communication and integrating technology more closely into organisational work.

Meetings with party leaders and elected representatives

Irani’s two-day schedule includes interactions with current and former office-bearers at various organisational levels. On Sunday afternoon, she was scheduled to meet divisional and district in-charges, followed by discussions with former MPs and MLAs in the evening. A meeting of the BJP core group was also planned for the night.

On Monday, she is scheduled to hold separate meetings with MLAs, MPs and state ministers, along with a review of the work of chairpersons of various corporations and boards. Interactions with representatives of the party’s wider ideological network, referred to as the vichar parivar, are also planned.

The review is intended to assess organisational performance, improve coordination between party units and strengthen the BJP’s presence at the grassroots level ahead of future elections.

Irani’s visit comes as the party begins consolidating its organisational strategy for the coming years. The series of meetings is expected to provide an assessment of the organisation’s current functioning and help establish priorities for its political and public outreach in Chhattisgarh.
