TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 25, 2025: In a significant step towards inclusive governance and empowerment, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai announced the renaming of Chhattisgarh Disabled Finance and Development Corporation to Chhattisgarh Disabled People Finance and Development Corporation. The announcement was made during a ceremony to mark the appointment of Shri Lokesh Kavadia as the new Chairman of the Corporation, held at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium, Medical College, Raipur.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sai emphasized that the move reflects his government’s commitment to the holistic development of persons with disabilities. “We are working to improve the standard of living of our disabled citizens through targeted schemes, financial support, and skill development. Our vision is rooted in equity, dignity, and opportunity,” he said.
During the event, loans were distributed to 15 disabled beneficiaries, while 11 others received interest subsidies. Additionally, a hearing aid was provided to a hearing-impaired recipient, demonstrating the government’s on-ground commitment to support through both policy and action.
Support for Startups and Livelihood
The Chief Minister also called for a comprehensive survey of children with disabilities to identify their aspirations and provide tailored support—especially in the form of loans for self-employment and startups. “We must create pathways for entrepreneurship and economic independence for our disabled youth,” he added.
Praise for Inclusive Governance
Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, also present at the function, applauded the government’s focus on inclusion. He recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emotional connection with the disabled during his visit to Dantewada, saying, “This is not just policy—this is personal. The appointment of an experienced social worker like Lokesh Kavadia will ensure that the voices of the disabled are heard and addressed.”
Empowerment Through Skills and Training
Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade echoed the sentiment, stating, “Our focus remains on skill development and economic empowerment of persons with disabilities. With initiatives like this, we are truly living the vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”
The event also featured stirring cultural performances by disabled students, including a patriotic dance by hearing-impaired students from Rajnandgaon and a musical performance by children from Divyang School Mana, leaving the audience visibly moved.
The occasion was graced by Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma, MLAs Rajesh Munat, Motilal Sahu, and Purandar Mishra, Raipur Mayor Meenal Chaubey, senior officials of the Corporation, and hundreds of disabled students and stakeholders from across the state.
With this announcement and a clear roadmap, Chhattisgarh continues to position itself as a model state for inclusive development and social justice.
