Finance Minister inspects key projects, directs time-bound completion of Ring Road, bridges, Kelo Riverfront, Marine Drive and green zones
Raipur, September 4, 2026: Raigarh is set for a major infrastructure transformation, with several large-scale road, bridge, riverfront, green-zone and public amenity projects being accelerated to address longstanding challenges linked to traffic congestion, industrial activity, pollution and inadequate civic infrastructure.
Finance Minister and Raigarh MLA O.P. Chaudhary conducted a marathon inspection of major development projects in the city on Friday, reviewing their progress, construction quality and timelines. He directed officials and construction agencies to speed up execution and ensure that all works are completed within the prescribed deadlines without compromising quality.
Chaudhary began his inspection at the Dudh Dairy Oxy-zone and subsequently visited the bridge under construction over the Kelo River at Govardhanpur, Kelo Riverfront at Kharraghat, Nalanda Parisar, SECL Road Marine Drive, Kayaghat Bridge, the skating rink at Mini Stadium, Kauhakunda Housing Board Colony, the stadium and FCI Oxy-zone.
Ring Road to address traffic challenges
The Finance Minister described the Ring Road project as one of the most important infrastructure initiatives for Raigarh’s future. He said the land acquisition process is progressing rapidly, while work on the first phase connecting Gharghoda Road with Jharsuguda Road is underway.
The project is estimated to cost more than ₹400 crore and is expected to provide a major alternative route for traffic movement. Chaudhary also said efforts would subsequently focus on widening the Raigarh-Gharghoda road into a four-lane highway.
Infrastructure expansion to match industrial growth
Chaudhary said Raigarh has emerged as one of Chhattisgarh’s important industrial centres, but its civic infrastructure has historically failed to keep pace with the city’s industrial expansion.
The resulting problems—including traffic congestion, movement of heavy vehicles, accidents, dust and pollution—have affected residents. The government is now pursuing major infrastructure projects in a coordinated manner to address these challenges and improve urban mobility and quality of life.
“Our objective is not merely to execute construction work but to bring about a tangible change in the lives of citizens by strengthening the city’s infrastructure,” Chaudhary said.
Focus on green spaces, recreation and civic amenities
Alongside roads and bridges, the government is giving priority to green spaces, sports facilities and modern public amenities. Projects such as the Kelo Riverfront, Marine Drive, Oxy-zones, Nalanda Parisar and sports infrastructure are expected to significantly change the city’s urban landscape.
Chaudhary said visible results of the ongoing development efforts would emerge on the ground within the next one to two years.
He instructed officials to undertake regular monitoring of the projects, maintain strict quality standards and resolve administrative and technical bottlenecks promptly through coordination among departments and construction agencies.
Mayor Jivardhan Chauhan, Chairman Digrilal Sahu, Collector Mayank Chaturvedi, Municipal Commissioner Brijesh Singh Kshatriya, local public representatives, prominent citizens, departmental officials, engineers and representatives of construction agencies were present during the inspection.
