Chhattisgarh Board Declares 2025 Exam Results: Girls Outperform Boys in Both High School and Higher Secondary

TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 7, 2025: The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE), Raipur, announced the results of the High School and Higher Secondary Certificate Examinations 2025 on Tuesday, with an overall pass percentage of 76.53% for Class 10 and 81.87% for Class 12. Girls once again outperformed boys in both examinations.

In the High School Certificate (Class 10) exams, 3,28,716 students had registered, with 3,23,094 appearing for the exam. Of these, 2,45,913 students passed, pushing the overall pass rate to 76.53%, a slight increase from last year’s 75.61%. The pass percentage among girls stood at 80.70%, significantly higher than boys at 71.39%.

Breakdown of High School results:

  • First Division: 1,26,654 (39.41%)

  • Second Division: 1,08,290 (33.70%)

  • Third Division: 10,966 (3.41%)

  • Failures in one or two subjects: 18,307

  • Results withheld: 30 (including 25 for use of unfair means)

  • Cancelled applications: 1,765

In the Higher Secondary Certificate (Class 12) exams, 2,38,626 students appeared, and 1,94,906 passed – a pass percentage of 81.87%, improving from 80.74% in 2024. Girls achieved a pass rate of 84.67%, compared to 78.07% for boys.

Breakdown of Higher Secondary results:

  • First Division: 1,00,544 (42.23%)

  • Second Division: 88,841 (37.32%)

  • Third Division: 5,516 (2.31%)

  • Failures in one or two subjects: 23,126

  • Results withheld: 61 (16 due to use of unfair means)

  • Cancelled applications: 515

This year, 2,523 centers were set up for Class 10 and 2,397 for Class 12 exams, with 34 coordination centers.

In line with the School Education Department’s directive, bonus marks were awarded to 9,225 students for extra-curricular achievements—4,681 in Class 10 and 4,544 in Class 12. However, the Board clarified that these bonus marks were excluded from the merit list, which was prepared on a provisional basis.

CGBSE Secretary Smt. Pushpa Sahu extended congratulations to all successful candidates and urged those who did not clear the exams to remain hopeful and prepare for the Board’s supplementary exams. “Failure is the ladder to success,” she said, encouraging students not to lose heart.
