State-Level Cyber Security Workshop Concludes in Nava Raipur

TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 9, 2025: A one-day state-level workshop on cyber security concluded in Nava Raipur on Thursday, aimed at promoting safe digital practices and strengthening the cyber resilience of government departments. The event was jointly organized by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology and CHiPS (Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society), as part of the state government’s ongoing initiative to enhance digital security.

The workshop featured expert guidance from Dr. Sriram Birudavolu, CEO of the Cyber Security Centre of Excellence, Hyderabad. Addressing senior administrative officers from key departments, Dr. Birudavolu emphasized that in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, cyber threats pose risks comparable to natural disasters, warning that failure to prioritize cyber security could lead to crisis-level disruptions.

Highlighting the economic scale of cybercrime, he said, “Cyber security now ranks third in global GDP—nearly three times India’s own GDP—underscoring its critical role in modern governance.”

CHiPS CEO Prabhat Malik noted that cyber security is no longer just a technical concern but a foundational aspect of delivering citizen-centric government services. “This workshop is designed to equip our administrative officers with the knowledge to identify, prevent, and respond to cyber threats while securing government digital assets,” he said.

Participants were briefed on current cyber-attack trends, legal frameworks, and best practices in threat mitigation. Senior officials including Dr. Kamalpreet Singh (Secretary, Public Works), Roktima Yadav (Director, Social Welfare), Jayshree Jain (Director, State Rural Livelihood Mission), and other senior officers from departments like Health, Education, and Forest also took part.

Organizers expressed hope that the sensitization of key officials would lead to better compliance with cyber security protocols and foster a culture of digital safety across state departments.
