Chhattisgarh to Launch ‘Developed Agriculture Sankalp Abhiyan’ Ahead of Kharif Season

TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 17, 2025: Chhattisgarh will roll out the Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (Developed Agriculture Sankalp Abhiyan) from 29 May to 12 June 2025, as part of a national initiative to support farmers with modern techniques and scientific knowledge ahead of the Kharif season. The campaign will be implemented across all development blocks of the state, following the directives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.

The aim of this wide-reaching campaign is to enhance Kharif 2025 preparedness, introduce farmers to technological innovations, and collect valuable grassroots insights that can inform future research and policy. Joint teams comprising officials from agriculture and allied departments have been formed to carry out the campaign at the village level. These teams will visit 2 to 3 identified Gram Panchayats daily and conduct interactive sessions with local farmers.

Topics to be discussed include direct sowing of paddy, use of drones in farming, natural farming techniques, balanced fertilization, and the latest seed varieties. Information will also be shared about government schemes related to agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, and fisheries. Experts from ICAR institutions, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and progressive farmers will participate in these sessions.

The campaign will not only serve as an educational outreach but also as a feedback mechanism. Officials will collect on-ground data regarding the challenges faced by farmers and document any innovative practices currently in use, which could contribute to future research and improved scheme implementation.

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the National Institute of Biotic Stress Management (NIBSM), Raipur, will monitor the campaign’s progress. Krishi Vigyan Kendras, along with agriculture-related departments, will coordinate the efforts.

A senior official noted that the goal is to ensure the campaign leads to tangible improvements in farming practices, encouraging a shift toward scientific agriculture. “This initiative is a step forward in empowering our farmers, boosting productivity, and making agriculture more sustainable and profitable in Chhattisgarh,” the official added.
