TFP Bureau, Raipur/Balod, January 9, 2026: Chhattisgarh’s Balod district has entered the national spotlight with the grand inauguration of the first-ever National Rover–Ranger Jamboree at Dudhli village, an event being hailed as a historic milestone for India’s youth movement. The five-day jamboree, being held from January 9 to 13, has brought together nearly 15,000 Rovers and Rangers from across the country and abroad, transforming Balod into a vibrant centre of youth energy, leadership and national pride.
The jamboree was formally inaugurated by Governor Shri Ramen Deka, who described the event as far more than a camp, calling it “a celebration of unity, diversity, brotherhood and shared national goals.” He said scouting and guiding play a crucial role in shaping disciplined, confident and socially responsible citizens, and urged the youth to perform at least one positive act for society and actively contribute to nation-building.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by School Education Minister Shri Gajendra Yadav, National President of Bharat Scouts and Guides Dr. Anil Jain, Chief National Commissioner Dr. K.K. Khandelwal, Chief State Commissioner Shri Inderjeet Singh Khalsa, along with national and state-level officials, public representatives and a large gathering of Rovers and Rangers. The dignitaries lit the ceremonial lamp, released balloons, and unveiled the jamboree magazine and newly designed badges.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Gajendra Yadav said scouting and guiding instil life values, discipline and social responsibility among young people. He described Rovers and Rangers as a motivated generation committed to doing good for society, the nation and the world, and termed the jamboree a proud and inspiring opportunity for Chhattisgarh and the country.
Chief National Commissioner Dr. K.K. Khandelwal called the hosting of the first National Rover–Ranger Jamboree in Dudhli village a historic and momentous occasion, while Chief State Commissioner Shri Inderjeet Singh Khalsa said the event has added a golden chapter to Chhattisgarh’s history. He thanked all institutions and stakeholders for their cooperation.
The ceremony featured an impressive march past by contingents from various states, who saluted the Governor and guests, followed by colourful cultural performances showcasing India’s rich diversity. A total of 33 contingents, including those from all states, the Railways and Navodaya Vidyalayas, are participating in the jamboree.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai described the event as a landmark moment for Chhattisgarh, stating that Balod has emerged as a new hub of India’s youth power. He said the jamboree has provided a national platform to highlight the potential of Chhattisgarh’s youth and strengthen the spirit of service, discipline and leadership among participants.
The Chief Minister noted that national-level camps, Rover–Ranger training programmes, cultural evenings and community service activities organised during the jamboree are nurturing responsibility towards nation-building. “The enthusiasm seen on the land of Balod reflects the dedication, energy and resolve of India’s future generation,” Shri Sai said, adding that a disciplined, skilled and self-confident youth force would be the backbone of a developed India.
Extending his best wishes to all participating Rovers and Rangers, Shri Sai expressed confidence that their commitment and service spirit would carry Chhattisgarh’s name to greater heights across the nation and the world.
