Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai Invited and Honored at Historic Goncha Mahaparva of Bastar

TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 19, 2025: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai received a warm invitation to the historic Goncha Mahaparva festival from a delegation led by Jagdalpur MLA Shri Kiran Dev during a courtesy visit to the CM’s residence today. The delegation invited the Chief Minister to attend the festival held annually at Bastar’s divisional headquarters, Jagdalpur, which stands as a vibrant symbol of social harmony and cultural unity in the region.

The Goncha Mahaparva, the longest-running festival after Bastar Dussehra, commenced on June 11 with the Chandan Yatra. Key events include the Netrotsav Puja on June 26 and the grand Shri Goncha Rath Yatra on June 27. The festival will conclude with the Bahuda Goncha Rath Yatra on July 5. In keeping with Bastar’s tribal traditions, the delegation honored Chief Minister Sai by presenting him with a ‘Tupki’ — a bamboo-made instrument filled with a special fruit that creates a distinctive crackling sound, traditionally used during the festival.

Expressing gratitude for the honor and invitation, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai extended his best wishes to the people celebrating the Goncha Mahaparva, recognizing it as a cherished cultural heritage promoting love and unity.

The delegation also included prominent local leaders such as Vedprakash Pandey, President of the 360 House Aranyak Brahmin Society, Chintamani Pandey, President of the Goncha Committee, and several other dignitaries from Bastar’s community.
