TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 16, 2025 — Ranjita Koreti, a promising young judoka from Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon district, has scripted history by winning the gold medal at the Asian Cadet Judo Championship held in Taipei, Taiwan. Representing India, Ranjita triumphed in the 52 kg weight category, outshining top contenders from across Asia in the prestigious tournament held from July 12 to 15.
Ranjita, who resides at the Girls’ Home run by the Chhattisgarh State Child Welfare Council, has emerged as a symbol of determination, talent, and resilience. Her victory is being hailed as a landmark achievement for Kondagaon and a proud moment for the entire state.
Backed by the support of the District Child Protection Unit and the Department of Women and Child Development, Ranjita’s journey has been shaped by dedicated mentorship and institutional care. Her potential was identified early, and with assistance from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), she received specialized training in judo.
Ranjita’s sports journey began in 2021 with a strong debut at the Open National Judo Tournament in Chandigarh. Since then, she has consistently proven her mettle at national competitions. She won bronze in Bhopal (2022), silver at the Khelo India National Tournament in Kerala (2024), and multiple gold medals in Nashik, Thrissur, Pune, and Patna.
Her consistent performance led to her international debut, where she ranked fifth at the Cadet European Cup in Georgia and followed up with a strong showing at the Asian Cadet Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan earlier this year.
Her crowning achievement came in Taiwan, where she captured gold, firmly placing herself among Asia’s best in the 52 kg category. Since January 2023, Ranjita has been training at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre in Bhopal, where she continues to pursue both education and professional training.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Women and Child Development officials have lauded her achievement, calling it a shining example of what girls can achieve when given equal opportunities. Ranjita’s journey, from a state-run child welfare home to the international podium, embodies the spirit of empowered India and Chhattisgarh’s commitment to nurturing talent from every corner of the state.
