TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 17, 2025: Chhattisgarh has once again distinguished itself on the national cleanliness front with stellar performances by its urban local bodies in the Swachh Survekshan 2024–25 rankings released today. Bilha Nagar Panchayat was adjudged the cleanest city in India among towns with populations under 20,000, while Bilaspur secured a prestigious second place among cities with populations between 3 and 10 lakh. Kumhari earned third place in the category for towns with 20,000 to 50,000 residents.

The awards ceremony held at New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan was graced by President Droupadi Murmu, who presented the honours to representatives from Chhattisgarh’s winning urban bodies. Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration Minister Shri Arun Sao, along with mayors, chairpersons, and officials from the awarded municipalities, accepted the awards. Union Ministers Manohar Lal and Tokhan Sahu were also present.

Beyond these top rankings, Ambikapur, Patan, and Bishrampur gained entry into the newly introduced Super Sanitation League (SSL), reserved for cities consistently ranking among the nation’s top performers over recent years. Ambikapur qualified in the 50,000 to 3 lakh population segment, while Patan and Bishrampur secured their positions in the under-20,000 category. Additionally, the state capital Raipur was honoured as Chhattisgarh’s “Promising Swachh City” for its ongoing commitment to urban sanitation improvement.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai lauded the efforts behind these accomplishments, stating, “This is a proud moment for Chhattisgarh. These awards showcase the collective dedication of citizens, local bodies, and government agencies in building cleaner, healthier cities. Such recognition will inspire all towns and cities in our state to raise their standards further.”

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao echoed this optimism, emphasizing that the awards reflect sustained sanitation efforts and innovative governance. “Chhattisgarh is poised to have many more urban bodies emerge on the national stage soon. Our continuous collaboration across local, state, and central levels is driving the transformation towards smarter and more livable cities,” he said.

With this remarkable clean city streak, Chhattisgarh continues to shine as a model for urban sanitation and civic pride in India.
