TFP Bureau, Bilaspur, July 17, 2025: A major case of high-tech cheating was uncovered during the Deputy Engineer (Civil/Electrical/Mechanical) recruitment exam conducted by the Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board (Vyapam) at Centre No. 1309, Ramdulare Shaheed Balak Uchchatar Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Sarkanda, on July 13.
A female candidate, Ms. Annu Surya, was found appearing for the exam using a hidden camera concealed in her undergarments and a micro speaker fitted in her ear. Her younger sister, Anuradha, stationed outside the exam centre, was allegedly feeding her answers via a walkie-talkie, tablet, and mobile phone connected to the candidate’s concealed devices.
Acting on a tip-off, the exam centre head, along with Vyapam officials and a female lecturer, conducted a physical search and confiscated the illicit electronic equipment. A cheating case was promptly filed based on the report of Centre Head Shri P. Mandal.
A formal case was registered at Sarkanda Police Station under sections 318(2), 112(2), 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Section 72 of the IT Act, and Sections 3 and 9 of the Chhattisgarh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2008. The two accused — Ms. Annu Surya and Ms. Anuradha, daughters of Kaleshwar Ram and residents of Kuparkapa Goriya village in Narayanpur, Jashpur — were arrested on July 14 and produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court.
Considering the seriousness of the offense, police sought a three-day remand for detailed interrogation to determine the full extent of the cheating network. The Hon’ble Court granted police custody of the accused till 3:00 PM on July 16 for further investigation.
Authorities are now probing whether the sisters were part of a larger organized cheating racket.
