Over 25.47 Lakh Chhattisgarh Farmers Receive ₹553.34 Crore Under 20th PM-Kisan Installment

TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 2, 2025: Marking another major milestone in the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, ₹553.34 crore was disbursed to over 25.47 lakh farmers in Chhattisgarh as part of the 20th installment of the Central Government’s flagship initiative. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai virtually joined the national event from Raipur, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred ₹20,500 crore to more than 9.7 crore farmers across the country through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Held during the holy month of Sawan, the event symbolized gratitude to the nation’s food providers. Addressing farmers, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the Centre’s unwavering focus on farmer welfare, stating that ₹3.75 lakh crore has been transferred under the PM-Kisan scheme since its launch in 2019.

He also introduced the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Yojana, with a ₹24,000 crore outlay aimed at boosting agricultural growth in backward districts. The PM underscored investment in irrigation, disaster relief via PM Fasal Bima Yojana, and the success of self-help group initiatives — notably the rise of over 1.5 crore “Lakhpati Didis” across India.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, in his address, thanked the Prime Minister and celebrated the latest installment as a reaffirmation of “Modi ki Guarantee” to the farmers. He noted that Chhattisgarh farmers have so far received ₹9,700 crore under the scheme, including forest land leaseholders and members of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

Reiterating his government’s commitment to farmer prosperity, CM Sai said, “Providing direct financial support to farmers is the most genuine recognition of their hard work. Our goal is to build a developed Chhattisgarh on the foundation of happy and empowered farmers.”

He highlighted key state-level initiatives:

  • Farmers in Chhattisgarh are being paid ₹3,100 per quintal for paddy procurement.
  • Within 10 days of assuming office, his government disbursed ₹3,716 crore in pending bonus payments.
  • Zero-interest loans under the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme are being widely availed.

CM Sai also announced major irrigation projects like the Bodhghat Project and the Mahanadi-Indravati river linkage, aimed at transforming Bastar — now freed from Naxalism — into a fertile and prosperous region.

To diversify farm income, the state is investing in allied activities like dairy, fisheries, and animal husbandry. Under the Dudharu Pashu Vitaran Yojana, milch animals are being distributed in six districts in partnership with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). The promotion of millets such as Kodo, Kutki, and Ragi is also underway to increase farmer incomes and boost nutritional security.

Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu lauded the regular financial assistance under PM-Kisan and highlighted rural infrastructure growth, including village roads and KCC-based loans.

Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam emphasized the integration of technology into agriculture through the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, under which more than 1 lakh farmers have been trained in advanced farming techniques.

As part of the event, several beneficiaries were presented with cheques and grants for agricultural equipment and support schemes.

The event was attended by public representatives including MLAs Sunil Soni, Purandar Mishra, Guru Khushwant Saheb, and Indra Kumar Sahu, along with senior officials, university vice-chancellors, and hundreds of farmers from across the state.

Chhattisgarh’s continued emphasis on pro-farmer governance and technological modernization positions it as a key contributor to the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
