Chhattisgarh Ranks Fourth Nationwide in Ayushman Bharat Treatment Delivery

TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 2, 2025: Chhattisgarh has emerged as one of India’s top-performing states in implementing the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), securing the fourth position nationwide for providing treatment under the scheme. This achievement highlights the state government’s strong commitment to delivering inclusive and accessible healthcare to economically vulnerable populations.

The state’s success is attributed to the effective integration of AB-PMJAY with two of its flagship health initiatives — the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Health Scheme and the Chief Minister Special Health Assistance Scheme. This coordinated approach ensures that beneficiaries receive cashless treatment at both public and private hospitals.

To date, over 78 lakh beneficiaries have availed free treatment services, with a notable increase in utilization of public hospitals indicating rising public confidence in government health infrastructure.

Addressing the needs of senior citizens, Chhattisgarh has enhanced the Vaya Vandan Yojana, issuing more than 4.5 lakh Vaya Vandan cards, covering nearly 48% of the state’s ration card holders. The scheme aims to strengthen healthcare access for the elderly.

Targeted outreach efforts involve ASHA workers, Gram Sabhas, Urban Health Forums, old age homes, and residential colonies to encourage registration. A dedicated 104 call center provides continuous support and service facilitation.

Furthering this focus, six districts have been designated as ‘Vaya Mitra Districts’ to intensify healthcare security for senior citizens, reflecting the government’s commitment to comprehensive health coverage for all sections of society.
