TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 9, 2025: In Kharga, a small village in Kota block of Bilaspur district, a quiet revolution in education is reshaping young lives. For years, the government primary school here struggled as a single-teacher institution, leaving students without proper guidance and gradually eroding their enthusiasm for learning. Today, thanks to the rationalization initiative of the Chhattisgarh government under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, that story has changed – and nowhere is this transformation more evident than in the beaming smile of student Poonam Dhritlahare.
Poonam, known among her peers for her intelligence and diligence, had always ranked ahead in studies. Yet the absence of adequate teaching support meant her questions often went unanswered, her curiosity met with silence. Over time, even the brightest students began losing motivation. Some considered dropping out altogether, a trend that worried parents and elders in the village.
Everything changed when the state government deployed a second teacher, Shri Mukesh Kumar Yadav, to join the existing staff member, Shri Santosh Kumar Khande. With two committed educators in place, the classrooms of Kharga’s primary school came alive. Lessons became more interactive, doubt-clearing sessions more frequent, and the quality of teaching visibly improved. Students who once hesitated to attend now arrive early, eager to learn.

Poonam says she can now tackle even the toughest math problems and understands her science lessons better than ever before. “Earlier, when we had only one teacher, it was hard to get personal attention,” she explains. “Now, we have enough time to ask questions and clear our doubts. I love coming to school.”
Parents, too, have welcomed the change. “Earlier our children would come home without learning much. Now, they return full of excitement, sharing what they studied that day,” says one mother from the village. The increased teacher presence has not only improved academic results but also restored community trust in government schooling.
The impact of this change extends beyond Kharga’s classrooms. Regular and timely teacher availability has created a stable learning environment, inspiring children to dream beyond the boundaries of their village. For Poonam and her classmates, the goal is no longer just to finish school, but to excel in higher studies and bring pride to their community.
Officials say that Kharga’s success is just one example of how rationalization – aimed at optimizing teacher deployment in rural and remote schools – can uplift entire communities. As Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has often emphasized, equitable access to quality education is the cornerstone of social and economic progress in the state.
For Kharga, the shift from a struggling single-teacher school to a thriving two-teacher institution has unlocked new possibilities. For Poonam, it has opened the door to a golden future – one that she is determined to walk through, armed with confidence, knowledge, and the unwavering support of her teachers and family.
