TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 15, 2025: Eleven fishermen cooperative societies from the Gangrel dam submergence area have regained their long-awaited fishing rights. Representatives from these societies, covering Dhamtari, Kanker, and Balod districts, met Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at his residence yesterday to felicitate him and express their gratitude.
During the interaction, CM Sai assured that an ambulance service would soon be made available in the submergence area and that efforts were underway to open a National Bank branch in the region to ease financial access for locals. He reiterated that the state government is committed to the upliftment of marginalized sections, ensuring welfare schemes reach the people while generating livelihood opportunities at the grassroots level.
Highlighting the impact of central government programmes, the Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Swachh Bharat Mission has transformed into a people’s movement, with household toilets ensuring dignity for women. Similarly, through the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, citizens have been connected to the formal banking system, while direct benefit transfer (DBT) has minimized corruption by eliminating middlemen.
He further noted that the Ready-to-Eat scheme has been entrusted once again to women’s self-help groups, empowering them with economic opportunities. “Our government remains steadfast in working for the dignity and upliftment of every community,” CM Sai emphasized.
The programme was attended by Dhamtari Mayor Ramu Rohra, former State Women’s Commission Chairperson Harshita Pandey, and members of the 11 fishermen societies of Urpuri, Telguda, Mogragahan, Koliyari Purana, Koliyari Naya, Gangrel, Futhamuda, Tuma Buzurg, Alori, Bhilai, and Devinawagaon. Representatives of the Dheewar and Kevat communities also participated in the gathering, which marked a significant moment of relief and recognition for affected families.
