TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 15, 2025: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai yesterday welcomed India’s renowned international chess player and Grandmaster Pravin Mahadeo Thipsay at his Raipur residence. The Chief Minister lauded Thipsay’s exceptional talent and remarkable achievements, extending warm appreciation for his contribution to Indian sports.
The meeting was also attended by Chhattisgarh Olympic Association General Secretary Vikram Sisodia and other association office-bearers.
Thipsay is one of India’s few chess players to earn the prestigious Grandmaster title. He holds the distinction of being the first Indian to win the Commonwealth Chess Championship and has been honoured with the Arjuna Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the sport.
